RAFFY's roots go back to 2005 when Raffy, Marc-André Binette, Martin Gauthier and François Mathieu attended Lionel-Groulx College's popular music and jazz programs.
After having hung out and played together for 3 years, the fledging foursome decided in 2008 to form a cover band appropriately called RUN4COVER. They would soon become locally renowned for being gifted multi-instrumentalists whilst generating a dynamic stage presence as well as being recognized for their unique arrangements of traditional folk songs.
Having played the daylights out of "other people's music" at bars, festivals and concert halls throughout Quebec, the four talented youths decided in 2009 to start penning a few songs of their own in their native French under the guise of RAFFY.
In February 2011, RAFFY and 7 other bands were selected among more than 150 groups across Quebec for MusiquePlus' "HouseBand recherché" contest. The group would then make it all the way to the LIVE finals and would go on to take the crown at the "l'Univers" show and become the official house band at MusiquePlus.
By the summer of 2011, RAFFY had already started working on their first album entitled "Le Faux est à la mode", which would get released November 1st 2011 via live broadcast through MusiquePlus. The following summer, their first single "Folle de toi" made it to many radio stations' top ten playlists, including the famous Rythme FM radio station who would go on to name them "Musical formation of the year".
Released in August of that same year through MusiquePlus, the video clip for "Folle de toi" hit #1 ten consecutive times in the Franco Top 5 on the "Palmarès" show and would later enter the coveted pantheon of most popular video clips at MusiquePlus. That same month, RAFFY performed on the Pénélope McQuade show in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 350 000 music lovers.
The launch at MusiquePlus' studios of "Le Faux est à la mode" on November 1st 2011 would go on to become a tremendous success. From that day forward, Quebec's new fab-four have been featured on countless radio and TV shows (Bell et Bum, Musique Plus, etc), festivals (Fête Nationale sur les plaines, etc) and concert halls (Bell Center, etc) across Quebec while simultaneously working enthusiastically on an original stage act for their upcoming national tour.
